UPDATE Stena Line have advised that they will NOT be able to accommodate any unaccompanied mobile units such as plant, machinery, trade cars, unaccompanied vans etc on the Heysham - Belfast route whilst they are operating from Albert Quay at Belfast Port. Alternative routes are available. Standard unaccompanied trailers will be accepted as normal.
An important message from Stena Line regarding port relocation:
To facilitate the arrival of our new generation E-Flexer ships to our Belfast<> Liverpool service in 2020/21, we need to make a number of important port infrastructure upgrade changes to Victoria Terminal 2 (VT2), including the construction of a new two-tier ramp in preparation for the arrival of our first vessel, Stena Edda, in Spring 2020.
To minimise customer disruption and inconvenience whilst this work is being carried out, we have made temporary arrangements to relocate our Belfast <> Heysham service from VT1 West Bank Road to Albert Quay, in Belfast Port, for approximately six months, starting on Friday 14th June 2019.
Whilst we fully appreciate the slight inconvenience this temporary relocation may cause, Albert Quay is a facility we have used before and are very familiar with, so we will do all we can to minimise any possible inconvenience to our customers.
During this period there will be no change to the Belfast <> Birkenhead service which will continue to operate as normal.
As we invest and grow our business on the Belfast <> Liverpool service, the new E-Flexers will provide an additional 20% freight capacity, hopefully this will provide even greater business development opportunities for you and your customers in the years ahead.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance on this important infrastructure project for Stena Line and we look forward to resuming our services from VT1 at the earliest opportunity.
Their new temporary facility can be found at Albert Quay, BT3 9HY.
Stena Line has provided a PDF with details on the most convenient way to access their new temporary facility at Albert Quay, which can be found here.
