Please be advised of the following roadworks that will be taking place over the next week which may affect journey time to and from our Cairnryan port -
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking essential structure waterproofing on the A77 at Burnfoot Bridge, 1 mile north of Cairnryan from Thursday 29th February until Wednesday 6th March 2024.
This scheme will benefit around 4,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The programme of works is as follows:
- Thursday 29th February 2024: 2-way temporary traffic lights installed at this location from 8pm until 6am on Friday 1st March 2024.
- Friday 1st March 2024: 2-way temporary traffic lights installed at this location from 8pm until 11:30pm ahead of a full weekend closure that will be in place from 11:30pm until 6am on Monday 4th March 2024.
- Monday 4th March 2024: 2-way temporary traffic lights installed at this location from 8pm until 6am on Tuesday 5th March 2024.
- Tuesday 5th March 2024: 2-way temporary traffic lights installed at this location from 8pm until 6am on Wednesday 6th March 2024.
- Wednesday 6th March 2024: 2-way temporary traffic lights installed at this location from 8am until 5pm.
During the full weekend closure a signed diversion will be in operation:
- A77 Southbound traffic will take the second exit off Shallochpark roundabout, Girvan onto the A714 to North Barnkirk, Newton Stewart. At North Barnkirk turn right onto the unclassified road to South Barnkirk to rejoin the A75. Traffic for Stranraer/Cairnryan will turn right onto the A75 and head west.
- A75 westbound traffic heading to Stena or the A77 north of Cairnryan will leave the A75 at Barnkirk, Newton Stewart travel along the unclassified road to north Barnkirk and turn left onto the A714. Traffic will then travel northwest to Girvan and take the first exit onto the A77 at Shallochpark roundabout, Girvan.
