Earlier this month Grimaldi Lines commenced operation of their new service between Brindisi in Italy and Igoumenitsa and Patras in Greece.
The new service operates three times a week in each direction, and to support passenger business will also call at Corfu once a week during summer.
Departures from Italy are Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 19:30, calling first at Igoumenitsa at 04:30 next day, then onto Patras arriving 13:00. From Greece the ferry departs Patras Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 17:00, then departing Igoumenitsa at 01:00, arriving in Brindisi at 08:00.
Grimaldi Lines have deployed the ship MV Sorrento on this route, which is capable of carrying more than 800 passengers, 170 cars and over 2250 metres of freight. Facilities on board include a self service restaurant, a cafeteria, two bars, a shop and a solarium.
With a shorter crossing time than the more traditional routes from Ancona and Bari, Grimaldi Lines services from Brindisi are expected to appeal to a wide range of transport companies.
