The Freightlink sponsored "Freefall" training boat recently appeared on CBeebies Let's Go Club programme at Otley Sailing Club.
As sponsors of the Hollybank Trust, Freightlink works closely with Otley Sailing Club and their Sailfree programme who provide essential sailing activities to children & adults with profound learning disablilities. It was great to see the Freefall training boat in the Cbeebies film.
Otley Sailing Club first began providing sailing opportunities for disabled people and people with complex learning difficulties under the “Sailing for All” banner in 1989. In 1993, “Sailfree” was born, but it was not until 1995 that the National Governing Body of our sport, the Royal Yachting Association, became involved and RYA Sailability (to which Sailfree is affiliated) became a reality. In 2013 club received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service from the Lord Lieutenant of the County, Dr Ingrid Roscoe. This was followed by the Duke of York Award for voluntary service to the community.
The club and Freefall have also recently featured in an episode of the Made In Leeds Lowdown Show, highlighting the close ties between the club and Hollybank Trust, and what the club offers in terms of disabled sailing.
