DFDS have released the below statement in regards to the situation at French customs;
"DFDS wish to apologise for the situation involving French Customs which unfortunately affects our customers with potential delays to their journeys. We are unaware of what caused the situation, but understand it is related to Brexit, therefore a situation totally beyond our control. In our view, the French customs representatives have been extremely active, cooperative and open in their efforts to find workable solutions that will mitigate the consequences of Brexit on traffic between the UK and France and we are very happy with the 'joint progression'. Naturally, we hope there will be a fast resolution to the current dispute to enable our customers to continue their journeys without unnecessary delays.
Due to the disruption caused by the French authorities, we continue to experience extended waiting times and high volumes of freight traffic in Calais and Dunkerque.
To support our freight customers as much as we possibly can during this situation which is out of our control , we will operate a service of “Load and Go” this will result in there being no timed schedule and will support us in providing an increased number of departures during today.
To keep you advised of the ongoing situation we will continue to post updates on our twitter and the Freight Ferry Alerts App."
