Freight ferries to the Isle of Man with Isle of Man Steam Packet Company
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is the oldest shipping company in the world, continually operating since 1830. The first side loading Ro-Ro car ferries were introduced in 1962 which saw the beginning of vehicle transportation to the island. Over the years ferries have sailed from the Isle of Man to places such as Holyhead, Whitehaven, Ardrossan and Fleetwood.
Although fast ferries operate between Liverpool and Douglas, Belfast and Douglas and Dublin and Douglas these are for passengers only and freight drivers have to ship via the Ro-Pax service from Heysham to Douglas. This service sails twice a day and takes 4hours 15mins.
Taking a freight ferry to the Isle of Man gives you a high level of onboard service including cabins, cafeteria and lounges. Drivers get presented with meal vouchers.
